Amy Riffle-Kouyeas: Amy loves instructing piano, ukulele and voice and has been doing so for more then 20 years. Her supportive and understanding approach to music pedagogy fosters student success and a creates a life long love of music!
Amy moved to Snohomish with her husband (a Theatre designer and technician) and 5 year old son Leander in 2015. In 2016 she founded The ARK (Amy Riffle Kouyeas) Music Studio to bring her love of performance and music pedagogy to the Snohomish community. Since then the studio has found a home on 109th Avenue and grown into an exciting, competitive and distinguished music instruction program. Amy has assumed direction of a vibrant music program at Zion Lutheran School in Snohomish where she teaches K through 8 and Preschool music classes, acts as music director for musicals (recently Into the Woods and The Wizard of Oz), developed a private instruction program and directs choir with many annual performances and tournaments. Amy is an active freelance accompanist in the Puget Sound area, she also just accepted an accompanist position at Peace Lutheran Church in Monroe. Recently, Amy acted as the music director at Auburn United Methodist Church in Auburn and as an instructor at 4/4 music in Woodinville! Amy is a member of the Music Teachers National Association and is active in local chapters.
Amy's career prior to arriving in Snohomish is extensive and impressive. She has a bachelors degrees from Frostburg State University and a Masters of Music in Performance and Pedagogy from West Virginia University where she completed a thesis in child music learning styles and methods. She has studied with master professors throughout her career and and considers herself a life-long learner. She is an accomplished instructor of performance, music theory and pedagogy having served on the music faculty and staff at several prestigious academic and arts institutions: Richmond Heights Christian School (OH), Taylor University (IN), Mt. Union College (OH), Arts Place Inc. (IN), Garett College (MD) and Potomac State College (WV).
She has founded and directed private instruction studios such as the Water Street Music Studio (Kent, OH) and honed her leadership and management skills creating a successful non-profit arts academy, The Tri-State Community School for the Arts (Cumberland, MD.) The Community School for the Arts used grants to bring scholarship opportunities and affordable music/theatre/dance/etc.. instruction to low-income communities and families and was honored with awards and recognition from the Maryland state governor, senators and other government officials and corporation foundations.
Amy has performed throughout the east coast and mid-west as a soloist or accompanist in classical, jazz, popular, folk and genres in many prestigious venues. Amy has music directed or been lead pianist for many musical theatre productions for community, academic and professional companies. She has also acted as a music director or accompanist at several churches both large and small in her career and excels at musical programming, choral arrangement/direction, directing contemporary praise bands and extensive piano and organ study and performance.
Throughout her career Amy's passion has been teaching the next generation and providing private instruction that fosters success! She is immensely proud to have students who have performed around the country and have gone on to competitive musical careers... but mostly to have helped all her students find a love and appreciation for the arts, improve their academic performance, focus, self-esteem and especially, make a connection!

TC Kouyeas, Jr.: TC Kouyeas Jr. started playing music at a very young age- beginning with Suzuki violin and piano. While in high school, he received exceptional training with the award winning Glenelg High School jazz band- performing at the North Sea Jazz Festival in Den Haag, Holland, and the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. He was fortunate enough to work with jazz luminaries Maynard Ferguson, Chuck Mangione, Chris Vadala, the Count Basie Orchestra and more! In addition to playing bass and percussion, TC also performed as a singer, being selected for the Maryland All-State Choir, and performing in several theatres and churches.

Focusing on improving his bass and vocal skills, TC continued to take several years of private instruction- focusing on musical theatre. In fact, TC has both a BA and MFA in theatre tech- he’s designed and maintained sound for regional theatres and directed and musical directed musicals and plays- even having the opportunity to work with Stephen Schwartz on an educational production of Godspell in 2010.
TC has long played in many original rock (composing his own music) and cover bands in several states and specializes in with Hard/Classic/Southern/PostModern Rock, Folk, Blues, Soul, Funk, Country and Bluegrass. He also plays several instruments including Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Piano/Keyboards, Electric and Upright Bass.
Also around 2010, TC began playing upright bass with bluegrass band Frost Mountain Revival and guitarist Jody Mosser. He studied bluegrass bass with Nashville bassist Alan Bartrum. During that time, he toured throughout the east coast playing festivals, and opened for many bluegrass luminaries including Kenny and Amanda Smith, The Travelin’ McCourys, Joe Craven and more.
Locally, you may have seen TC playing keyboards, electric guitar, and singing with The Royal We a well known rock cover band, playing percussion and bass with the Edmonds Community Band, or with the Edmonds College Salsa Club. He also teaches audio recording classes at Edmonds College and incorporates technical study of use Al gear into his curriculum.
